Services Offered at Northfield Retirement Community
Skilled Nursing Care - This service involves health evaluation and treatment of residents who require nursing supervision on an inpatient basis. This type of care requires skilled nursing or rehabilitation staff to manage, observe, and evaluate the resident's care. It includes nursing services performed by registered nurses (RN), licensed practical nurses (LPN), and nursing assistants.

Rehabilitation
- These services enable residents to reach and maintain their optimal physical, sensory, intellectual, psychological and social functional levels. Rehabilitation provides residents with the tools they need to attain independence. Rehabilitation includes Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy.
Spiritual Care - Recognizing the importance of religious beliefs to the aging, full-time spiritual care services are offered to meet the spiritual needs of a resident and support our mission to residents, family members, and employees. NRC has both on-site Pastoral Care and a Parish Nurse at work in the community, providing one-on-one and group services. All denominations and faiths are respected and supported at Northfield Retirement Community.
Home Care Services- Home care includes nursing services, personal services, nutritional services, and up-keep services. Home care services are provided by our licensed, class A home care agency. These services are available in Kildahl Park Pointe and limited areas in the community.
Memory Care Services - This service provides assistance with daily living activities for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other related disorders. The staff receives on-going, specialized training in memory care to ensure that residents receive appropriate care for their specific needs. This service fosters residents' individual skills and interests while creating an environment that diminishes confusion and agitation.
Housing with Services - Locations on the NRC campus are registered as housing with services for the elderly in Minnesota. Services provided are available through NRC or another entity arranged by NRC.
Catered Living Services - Catered Living provides care for our residents in a personalized environment. Services are tailored to each person's individual need to promote comfort, their desired level of independence and support. This type of living enables our residents to choose their independence with only the services they need and want, thus minimizing the extensive costs of care associated with some other living choices. Services may include moderate assistance with the activities of daily living and special assistance as required.
Catered Living is the answer to questions like: "What do I do when I need a little extra help?" and "i'm not ready for assisted living but my spouse needs more care." It is the perfect option to diminish the chance you will have to move again.
Assisted Living Services -The National Center for Assisted Living defines Assisted Living as a service performed in a congregate residential setting that, "provides or coordinates personal services, 24-hour supervision and assistance (scheduled and unscheduled), activities, and health-related services." Clinical services are provided through our licensed, Class F home care agency.
Assistive Technology - This non-intrusive method of monitoring consists of wireless sensors placed throughout the apartment to detect contact and movement by the resident. By sensing whether a resident is opening their kitchen cabinets or refrigerator, or lying in bed, or moving about the room, staff and family members can check for safety concerns while maintaining a resident's sense of privacy and integrity. Information from the sensors is relayed to a secure web portal and viewed privately on computers located at the nursing station and in family homes. This new tool assists staff and family members by ensuring a response to falls and by recording date on eating habits and other healthcare issues.
