Independent LivingIndependent living residents need minimal assistance maintaining a daily lifestyle. You can enjoy your private space with your own furnishings, and can arrange optional in-home personal care services if you need them.
Northfield Manor offers affordable, HUD Section 8/202, unfurnished apartments for adults that are 62 years of age and older or those that have a disability. Northfield Manor apartments are available on a sliding fee for residents who qualify for rental housing assistance. This controlled-access building has two elevators serving all resident floors. It features a beautiful dining room that doubles as a spacious community room for gatherings and special events. Lounge areas and laundry facilities are conveniently located on each floor. The lower level houses a library, television viewing area and several multi-purpose rooms. Corridors connect Northfield Manor to a number of buildings on the campus.
Northwood Pines is NRC’s newest and most spacious Independent Living option. There are one-bedroom plus den apartments featuring various dimensions and configurations. These units are located next to community townhomes and are not connected to other buildings on the NRC campus. Northwood Pines also features shared common area spaces.
Assisted LivingAssisted living at NRC combines the comforts of home with periodic personal care and health services designed to enable individuals that are 55 years of age or older to live as independently as they wish. Staff are available 24/7 should any needs arise.

Cannon Valley Suites features private rooms for residents who require a customized set of a la carte services to meet their growing needs to maintain dignity and autonomy. Memory careNRC is dedicated to providing the best in care and services for the well-being of our memory care residents. We provide ongoing resident assessments that allow for individually tailored care plans to fit each resident’s unique needs.
Northfield Retirement Community is proud to follow LeadingAge of Minnesota’s Guiding Principles for Dementia Care which were developed by experts in dementia care and identify the key components of high quality dementia care programs.
Evergreen Lodge is NRC’s memory care living option for individuals with identified dementia. It features a living area, breakfast bar, beauty salon, activity area and access to a private courtyard. The staff provides assistance with daily living activities in an intimate setting. Caring staff have additional training in the appropriate care of people with dementia and provide 24-hour supervision. Contact us for more information about availability and the application process.
A peaceful, enclosed, landscaped courtyard offers a serene retreat, complete with a water feature, shade trees and walking path. Residents and their families have the opportunity to contribute to their home by assisting with meal planning and preparation and laundry as well as participation in events and spiritual activities.
Enhanced CareNRC’s Enhanced Assisted Living provides a higher level of clinical monitoring and personal care. Some of these services include advanced diabetic management, wound care, pain management, transfer assistance, and catheter/ostomy care. This unit appeals to residents in need of a higher level of care than what is offered in traditional assisted living facilities.
Northfield Enhanced Care includes nursing services performed by registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and certified nursing assistants. Staff are also available to manage, observe and evaluate residents’ care. NRC recognizes the concerns involved with the transition to a care facility, and our staff strives to make each moving experience as pleasant as possible. Northfield Enhanced Care's individual, ground-level rooms feature private bathrooms complete with showers. Spacious and well-lit common areas, lounges and a dining room foster a sense of community and provide areas for entertainment for residents and visitors. Conveniently, the enhanced care center also includes a beauty-barber salon and other accessible personal amenities. The Chapel and Fellowship Hall, as well as rehab therapy provide plenty of opportunities for residents.
Short-term careThe enhanced care center is available for individuals who are in need of transitional care and rehabilitation services but are not current NRC residents. These services are also available to anyone living on the NRC campus.
Northfield Retirement Community provides management services to two neighboring properties – Kildahl Park Pointe and Evergreens of the Cannon Valley. These options are independent properties and are provided with priority access to campus housing, social activities and spiritual amenities.
